Where the Money Goes

Since inception, Chesapeake K-9 Fund has raised tens of thousands of dollars through organic fundraising efforts, including prominent community sponsors, events including a 5K race, and individual donors. These funds are already working hard to support K-9s in Maryland.

K-9 Costs

We purchase and supply K-9s and equipment directly to each law enforcement agency recipient. Below is an example of average costs for ONE K-9:

“Green" untrained 1-year-old K-9: $6500
Trained K-9 certified in narcotics, explosives or search and rescue: $8000
Heat sensor alarm and installation: $1600
Cage for patrol car, plus installation: $2000
Protective vest: $1200
